Weekly Notes, Classroom Yard Sale & School Carnival

Weekly Family Notes Envelope
Yesterday your child should have brought home their Weekly Family Notes envelope. Rather than send home individual notes throughout the week, I'll collect the notes and send them home in the manila envelope on the first day of each school week. The only exception to this would be when a note needs your attention before then. Please sign/initial the envelope and send it back the next day so your child will be rewarded.

Monthly Yard Sales
Tomorrow we will have our first classroom yard sale. Your child can bring items that are no longer needed or wanted by your family. In the past students have brought toys, games, trading cards, and souvenirs. Don't worry if an item is broken because one man's trash can be another man's treasure. Students will use the classroom currency, Bunker Bucks, that are earned for good behavior to buy items from each other. This flea market idea reinforces social studies concepts I teach and provides value to the classroom currency. I'm surprised with the entrepreneurial spirit the students show. I've told the students that they are not to buy from a store to bring.

School Carnival
For our school carnival our classroom has adopted the silent auction theme "Gardening." We are building an auction basket containing new items that follow the Gardening them. Items that you wish to donate could include gloves, kneeling pads, seeds, tools, etc. Items need to be donated prior to 18 Sept.
