Homework Folders
For homework this week, your child will bring home a folder that they will decorate and use as their homework folder for the year. Please have them decorate the outside of this folder. You do not need to purchase anything. Just use it as a place to put those little stickers, photos, stamps and trading cards that they want to keep but cannot find a home for. They are welcome to be creative and use scrapbooking skills. I have found that students are less likely to lose or misplace their homework folder if they have personalized it.
Because these folders will be laminated, please do not have your child use permanent markers or rubber cement. These items tend to make the lamination bubble and not seal properly. Instead, use water-based markers and glue sticks.
Starting next Monday (30 August 2010) your child will need to bring this folder with them every day to school.
I'll be using the homework folder as the vehicle to get homework and school information to and from school in a systematic, orderly manner. Your child's spelling words and reading log should also live in this folder. Each Monday we will place any school notes to you in the "To Do" pocket. Their weekly homework packet will also be there.
Homework Packets
Homework will be sent home as a packet on the first school day of each week. Students will have the flexibility of completing the work at their own pace throughout the week. Homework is due the following Monday at the beginning of class.
